I have had the distinct pleasure of serving the citizens of Sevier County for the past 44 years including the past 10 years as Sheriff. I took office on March 5, 2007 after the untimely death of Sheriff Bruce R. Montgomery and was appointed to the position of Sheriff after being confirmed by the Sevier County Commission. I was reelected to the position in 2008, 2010, and 2014. The office of Sheriff has been very challenging because of the economic growth Sevier County is experiencing. With the 92,000 residents and the approximately 125,000 visitors nightly, many specialized units have been formed to meet the challenges: Sort Team, Child Abuse/ICAC Investigator, Domestic Violence Team, Traffic Enforcement Unit and the addition of 6 K-9 Units, Sex Offender Registry Compliance Office, Training Division, GIS Mapping Unit, Video Forensic Unit, and a Community Relations Office. With all the development going on in the Community, the Sevier County Jail became overpopulated and additional facilities had to be built to accommodate the growing inmate population. The Sevier County Minimum Security Facility was completed in 2008 with an addition completed in 2014. A proud moment with my affiliation with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office was when we received our Accreditation with the Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation program in 2014. Education:
