PLEASE READ Reserve Officers News and Updates for 2024
ALL Reserve Officers MUST attend all MANDATORY TRAINING DATES. (Mental Illness, EVOC, Child Sexual Abuse) (These total 12 hours) There will not be a make up day scheduled for these three topics. (No exceptions will be made)
All mandatory training will be noted on this site.
Uniforms must be worn to all training dates unless noted otherwise. If you do not have a uniform, a department issued polo shirt is acceptable. (Business casual for those who are not required to wear the uniform)
There will be 18 scheduled training dates for the 2024 calendar year.
Additional training will possibly be added throughout the calendar year. These classes will not be mandatory however, you are encouraged to attend all available training offered by the Sheriff's Office training staff.
There will also be 3 scheduled open firearms qualifications dates for you to chose from. You may attend any or ALL of the dates that are scheduled.
You must attend a minimum of one firearms qualification date before Dec 31st, 2024.
Failure to complete all mandatory training hours (32 hours) and firearms qualification (8 hours) will result in forfeiture of your Sheriff's Office Issued Bond Card.
Reserve Officers Photos will be scheduled for several dates in June.
Key fobs will only be issued to officers who are regularly volunteering to work on a weekly basis.
A reserve radio will be available to be issued out at the SOC building for officers who do not currently have a department radio. If you need to use this radio, please check it out by signing and dating the sheet. Please return the radio immediately after you have completed your detail.
Sevier County is a tobacco free workplace. Please refrain from using tobacco products while you are in uniform or operating a sheriff's office vehicle.
Reminder: if you operate a sheriff's office vehicle, you must wear your seatbelt.
During the 2021 calendar year, I will make an effort to post all reserve officers training hours. However, It will continue to remain your responsibility to make sure that you have all of the required hours completed by December 31, 2024
If you have not already filled out the work availability form, please do so and forward it to me as soon as possible.
If you are wearing a uniform and/or operating a police car, please remember to wear your ballistic vest. If you are working on a regular basis and do not have a vest, please send me a text or email and I will issue a vest if we have one available.
