Video Camera Registration
Video Camera Registration
Introduction:
Welcome to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office video camera registration page. This program is designed to form a partnership with our community in a joint effort to deter crime, help identify suspects, and increase the proactive approach to crime fighting. This voluntary program is to join our community together through video surveillance systems at homes and businesses across our beautiful county. Your information is confidential, and you can un-register at any time.
Similar programs have already started with other agencies across the nation. We have seen firsthand the importance and success stories of how this program could impact our community if we unit together. The registration is simple, completely on a volunteer basis, and now available to Sevier County residents and businesses.
How it works:
Your camera may be pointed down your driveway to a highway, a street in a subdivision, or a business camera into a parking lot, inside the store will often catch something useful for the sheriff’s office, even at times you may be unaware of something happening near you. What this program will change is the broadening of possible leads to crimes in your area and make us aware that you have a camera recording continuously. This program will give you and SCSO a chance to capture the suspects coming, leaving, or actually committing a crime in progress. Populated areas that have one or two entrances should consider putting a camera at the entrance capturing the traffic into their residence.
You will only be called upon by our office when there has been a crime committed in your area that could have possibly passed by your cameras. There will be only a request of downloading video from your system to clarify and identify the ones involved in a possible crime. If there is a crime in your neighborhood or business, a deputy or detective will contact you to look for possible leads or if you have discovered something yourself then you would contact us to come out to view or download the video evidence. We are coming together with you to strengthen our capability of solving crime within our community.
